HARARI SOCIAL SPIRIT
Shuwal Eid in Harar

Written by Professor Abdi Khalil

Harar is the warm heart of Ethiopia
For some very good reasons;
It is a city on the go always,
Idealizing laughter and positive intentions.

Young and old alike cherish activity
Zealously participate,
Whether it be work or play.
As a result, streets are barely quiet
In all aspects, social life is vibrant.

It is a truism many a foreigner can verify
To make an Ethiopian friend
Is to create a friend for life.
And Harar is the tap
Of this kind of friendship,
And where many a friend
In need and indeed can be made.

All sorts of positive actions,
Enticing yearly events,
Of real-real friends,
Of harmonious families,
Of sociable citizens
Radiate from the city of sunshine,
And the Mecca
of the nation.
