19 man-made non-organic Coronas
Depriving equity, equality, justice and humanity

By Professor Abdi Khalil

Man-made coronas have attacked all organs of humanity. It is a turbulent time with COVID19 storm. COVID19 has steered the world to a turning point in human history. It is an inflection point to structurally adjust human systems of governance (i.e., capitalism, communism and many more -isms) that are responsible for the vast human sufferings and natural resources destructions, as well as, to spiritual deteriorations around the globe.  Like most, I am staying home abiding to health professional advices and health measures declared. But, this unprecedented human tragedy has also made me to reflect more, and examine human characteristics and its governance systems that brought us to global crisis. Re-examining the inhumane attitudes! Why a turbulent time? What brought us to this end? What are the ills around the globe? Have we abused our “Wills”? Have we become Pharaoh’s progenies? Is it not time to be socially minded, and have a new normal? As the world yearns for equality, equity, justice and peace, is it not time to transform ourselves and turn to humanity?
COVID19 is overwhelmingly devastating the human health with domino effects on social, economic and political sectors. Loosing a single human being is the greatest tragedy to a household and humanity at large. All my sympathy and heartfelt condolences to all who lost their loved ones. Assorted negative consequences are immense, visible and unbearable in households; but this tragedy also triggers our intellect to realize decades old societal and international ills. It is a call to re-evaluate the inhumane systems that got us to this end. It is time to take responsibilities - personally, collectively, nationally and internationally. It is pronto to edit, adjust, redirect and humanize ourselves to go back to humanity, the new normal.
There are assorted positive, negative, combative and supportive lessons to be learned from this pandemic! Pre-COVID19, social, political and economic ills have also reached pandemic proportions around the globe. Inhumanity, injustices, corruptions, extremisms, hunger, poverty, wars, abuse of power, abuse of nature and natural resources are in almost all the corners of the world because of the monopoly of capitalism and repression of communism ideologies. These ideologies have immensely destroyed the fabric of families, communities, societies and countries at large. They have rampaged and shattered the cosmic balance of nature and humanity. These ideologies have managed to instill in the new generation self-centeredness, and imparted a gloomy picture of a universe living by chance. They made humanity to be valued with materialism only. They have infected humankind to its core with the viruses of globalization, systematic recolonization and material evangelism for exploitations. They have vilified the beauty of diversity and multiculturalism; opting for abnormal and immoral identities with no benchmark for normality.
One percent of the world population controls the global wealth, economy, and politics. Materialism and self-centrism have corrupted humanity with the notion that you should live entirely for yourself without really giving much thought, if any, to others. Greed and deceptions at individual, national and international levels have become the norm. Life for the 99% is tragedy everywhere! Poverty is abysmally rampant, injustices are appallingly justified, and human displacements and immigrants have been portrayed as symbols of xenophobia and failure across the West. All inhumane and discriminatory activities have become right, portraying as “wrong” is right including giving diseases racial names, making Africa a testing ground and home of poverty.
Amid all of these, COVID19 has emerged just few months ago, and is testing the superpowers, the super-riches, the super-rude and the super-everything! Arrogance, ignorance and narcissism have forcefully been exposed to their cores. The so-called economic, military and political giants came down to their knees to the tinniest animal (yes to the tinniest animal!!), and begging for help from left and right, top and down, in and out, and all around. They are begging for help the same spiritual and super-natural power that they have neglected, disdained and abandoned for decades. Their super-everything is nothing but a dusty power when confronting microscopic COVID19. Their accumulated nuclear power and military might cannot kill a virus. What a waste of resources and accumulated devilish weapons! COVID19 is a raid to their Pharaonic attitudes!
In fact, as much as COVID19 is a global health problem and tragedy, it has also come to re-direct and correct the maladies and mistreatments both capitalism and socialism posed and implemented around the globe. The time has come to adjust, edit and treat these social, economic and political man-made viruses as nature is fighting back corrupted human systems. In no preference order, the following are a list of 19 social, political and economic iniquities, which are the mothers of all pandemics created by the super-everything around the globe.
The 19 man-made non-organic coronas are:
1.     INTEREST RATE OR USURYWhat is interest rate or usury? And its consequences? Interest rate is an amount calculated based on a percentage of the amount of loan you have taken from a lender, regardless of whether it is usurious. Usury is the act of lending money at an interest rate that is considered unreasonably high or that is higher than the rate permitted by law. Regardless of the slight difference between the two based on the law of the country, both of them are interest rates calculated on the amount of loan you owe. Both the lender and the borrower are equally responsible for their consequences.

How does interest or usury deprive equity, equality and humanity? Compound interest rate (an interest rate that creates multiple interest rates on the loan) is the DNA of current financial system to super multiply the wealth of the wealthier while depriving the borrower. It is the building block of greed! It is the main tool of exploitation of the working class and developing countries. It has brought misery in the history of human being, and global financial crises in 2008. Because of compound interest rate, people work over 15 hours per day to pay off mortgages, loans and assorted debts in developed countries. The so-called Third World or Developing countries send all their natural resources to pay off their forcefully accumulated debts from developed countries under the banner of development loans via the World Bank, IMF, Unilateral developed countries, NGOs, etc. According to IMF report, Africa alone repays US$20 billion per month, and hence perpetuating poverty. Compound interest rate balloons the debts to unbearable repayment levels hence robs the future of individuals and generations in developing countries.

The World Bank says a country reaches a tipping point when the debt-to-GDP approaches or exceeds 77%, and some developing countries have approached the cliff and others have already tipped off. Compound interest on their national debts immediately reduce the money available for other spending programs. No improvement on education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, and so on. Debt-trap fuels poverty!

For significant part of it, developed countries are responsible for high poverty level in developing countries. Higher compounded interest rates and growing debts are the two main causes in perpetuating poverty. Their economies are sick to their cores leading to persistent grinding poverty among their populations. World financial system is venomizing the banking systems of developing countries as interest rate is the cancer to working class and developing countries, as a whole. According to Silicon Africa, in addition, 14 African Countries Forced by France to Pay Colonial Tax for the Benefits of Slavery and Colonization. Assorted exploitation tactics and policies, these countries, a colonial pact, to put 85% of their foreign reserve into France central bank under French minister of Finance control. Though, denounced by the European Union, but France is not ready to move from that colonial system which puts about 500 billions dollars from Africa to its treasury year-in year-out, as reported by MediaPart Journal. As this was confirmed by former French President Jacques Chirac said: “Without Africa, France will slide down into the rank of a third world power,” and Chirac’s predecessor François Mitterand already prophesied in 1957 that: ”Without Africa, France will have no history in the 21st century.” Hence, unfair and inhumane exploitations persist.

Since COVID19, the interest rate has gone to zero for central banks to borrowing commercial banks in developed countries! This is what is supposed to happen when lending to individuals and developing countries, as well. It is time developed countries relieve 145 developing countries of their external debts (over 7.8 trillion dollars, World Bank) in favor of humanity. Stop the wealthiest one percent of the population continuing with their inhumane financial systems and unjustified gains! Let’s stop exploitation techniques that are unfolding and imposed from Paris Club, Central Banks to the World Bank, IMF and European Union. Compound interest is total war against humanity! To have new normal, lenders should opt to cancel all the accumulated debts of poverty ridden countries, and halt perpetuating ultra-poverty. The Creator eventually will destroy interest and usury as done in COVID19 era.

2.     POVERTY What is poverty? And its consequences? Poverty is a state or condition in which a person or community lacks the financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living. According to UNICEF, nearly 1/2 of the world's population — more than 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty — less than $1.25 a day. A billion children worldwide are living in poverty. About 22,000 children die each day due to poverty, a figure by far higher than COVID19. In fact, 1.5 billion people in 104 developing countries, which accounts for 74% of the world’s population, live in multidimensional poverty. Is it not poverty the worse visible man-made non-organic corona the super-powers have created at all corners of the world?

Africa’s ills- be it social, political and economic began when it was physically terrorized and colonized a century ago. They make sure the problems continue to persist as the colonialists or white terrorists left their colonialism software or ideologies – education system, business oriented religious groups. They device tools that always worked for them; these tools could be divide and conquer, use scare tactics, convert operations, constant surveillance of Africa, interfere with African internal affairs, from behind the scene instigate internal or external conflicts and wars, injects Africans with AIDS or other viruses, etc. They are remotely controlling Africa these days.

Today, developed countries (or G7) have set aside over 7 trillion dollars to compensate and help their citizens who are quarantined within their own borders. They have the power to print or electronically produce any amount of money for their needs. Could these developed countries do the same for developing countries to take them out from abject poverty? Yes. They can. As immediate remedy, just cancel the overburdening and accumulated debts. Print for them some billions, NOT trillions, to create wealth and eliminate poverty with no time in developing countries, as well!

3.     WARS AND WARFARE What is war? And its consequences?  War is intense armed conflict between statesgovernmentssocieties,or paramilitary groups such as mercenaries, insurgents and militias. It generally characterized by extreme violenceaggression, destruction, and mortality using regular or irrigular or covert opperations using regular or irregular military forces. War, in the popular sense, a conflict between political groups involving hostilities of considerable duration and magnitude.

War is highly associated using power for political and economic gains, as seen in last few decades. Power is apt to be intolerant and arrogant, and to interfere in everything that does not accord with its own glorifications. In the name of terrorism and liberty, unjustified and illegal wars are everywhere. From the diamond and cobalt belts of Congo to the field oils of Iraq, Syria and Libya; from the uranium of Somalia, Central Africa, Mali and Chad to the opium of Afghanistan and strategic ports of Yemen; from occupation and aggression in Palestine and Cashmere to mass incarcerations and communist indoctrination of Uyghur Muslims in China. From slaughters in Bosnia and Rwanda to persecutions and genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. These manifestations had directly or directly have the hands and hallmarks of capitalists and communists in the name of fighting common enemy.

On average, about 5000 people perish every day due to conflicts and wars around the globe. Almost over a billion people are displaced internally and externally. Immigrants flocking to Europe. The youth, women and children are being drowned in the seas, dying in the jungles and desert of Africa and Mexico, murdered by human traffickers. War has a catastrophic effect on the health, environment, material, physical, psychological and well being of nations. Many UN studies have shown that conflict situations cause more mortality and disability than any major disease. At least 108 million people were killed in wars in the twentieth century. The cost of the Gulf War was approximately $76 billion. Vietnam cost $500 billion; the Korean War, $336 billion; and World War II, almost $3 trillion. Imagine what could have happened if all these wasted financial resources were diverted towards development and humanity?

It is now imperative the so-called world leaders should come to their senses and stop the wars on these countries, which are inhumane. There is a lesson to be learned from fighting COVID19. As much as CODVID19 is obliterating humans within the borders of developed countries and fighting back to stop it, stop also the wars that have obliterated many countries and victimized innocent human beings largely women and children. Wars are the axis of all evils! Reinvest your accumulated financial resources, redirect finances from production of weapons of mass destruction to infrastructure development on the betterment of the world, not warfare. The central message is: open your arms for change and invest on peaceful activities!

4.     ARMS TRADE What is arms trade? And, the consequences? The arms industry, also known as the Defense industry or the Arms Trade is a global industry which  manufactures and sells weapons and military technology, and is a major component of the Military–industrial complex. It is the center of war economics and money making machine.
The mother of all man-made destruction coronas – weapon production. The mindsets of destructions and sadisms perhaps do mark the most frantic period of weapons development in the history of humanity. The European Renaissance marked the beginning of the implementation of firearms in western warfare. By 1918, chemical shells made up 35 per cent of French ammunition supplies, 25 per cent of British, and 20 per cent of the American stock. Both the United States and the Soviet Union have engaged in a nuclear arms race with a climax of nuclear holocaust in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as, with capabilities destructing the Earth x100 fold. A fact that verifies the horrifying intentions of capitalism and communism.
With substantial political importance, commerce and accumulation of wealth, the link between politics and arms deals have developed a “military-industrial complex.” The largest exporters are the United States (about 1 trillion), Russia (200 billion), UK(160 billion), France (150 billion), Germany (140 billion) and China (140 billion) whilst the five biggest importers were Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia and Algeria. Both the exporters and the importers ultimately killing humans because of their political and economic ambitions, dominance and controls; eventually the blissfully unaware innocent youth, women and children are the victims. Look what is happening in the Middle East and Asia. Yemen, Iraq and Syria are cases in point!
The evils of Arms production and Deals do not stop here. Landmines kill 15,000 to 20,000 people and severely maim countless more farmers, women and children. From mines in the jungle of Congo to “Orange” mines in the villages of Vietnam and Cambodia. From the horror Guns in the streets of New York, Los Angeles and Johannesburg to suburbs of European and Asian capitals; from unjustified war in Yemen to inhumane destructions of Syria. From the darkest time between Ethiopia and Eretria to largest human displacement and destruction in South Sudan; from idiotic conflicts between Anglophone and Francophone Cameroonians to inhumane destructions of Kurds in Iraq. Let the developed countries come to senses to slash and redirect a fraction of destructive weapon production to human and infrastructural development to heal humanity.

5.     PROPAGANDA AND LOBBYING What is propaganda? And, consequences of propaganda and lobbying? Propaganda is information that is used primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda, which may not be objective and may be presenting facts selectively to encourage a particular synthesis or perception, or using loaded language to produce an emotional rather than a rational response to the information that is presented. Similarly, lobbying is a form of advocacy with the intention of influencing decisions made by the government by individuals or more usually by lobby groups; it includes all attempts (bribes, threats, rewards, etc.) to influence legislators and officials, whether by other legislators, constituents, or organized groups.

Propagandameans lies, lies and lies. Repeated lies appear to become truth in the minds of the receiver. It is a machine that creates panic and fear through emotional exploitations among vast segment of the population. The propagandists (dishonest journalists, politicians, community leaders, etc.) are in the frontline in creating political corruptions and agitations. Lobbyists (dubbed Spin doctors) readily manipulate the vast majority for political and economic domination of the elites. Major and various news outlets and social media are owned and controlled by the elites to do the propaganda job effectively. The transition from 20th century to 21st century has witnessed the surge in misinformation and becoming trademark of fear mongering. Fake news stretching from White House, Kremlin, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace to Beijing, Paris and Brussels infecting and agitating the new generations. Advocacy groups, also known as special interest groups, use various platforms in order to influence public opinion and ultimately policies to their own advantages.

They play important roles in the development of political and social systems. Their motives may be based on political, religious, moral, or commercial positions. Politics and policies for sale, and undermining popular and fair policies! From APEC influences of the White House in favor to Zionists to occupation, aggression and inhumanity in Palestine; from gun and arms control globally to sabotage and convert operations in developing countries.

According to Dwyers and Open Secrete Organization, lobbying topped $3.3 billion bribes in 2018. From pharmaceutical companies ($280 million bribing) promoting drugs to insurance ($157 million bribing) companies swindling life insurances; George Soros’ Open Society Policy Center ($31.5 million) influencing political campaigns to undermining legitimate governments. The boggy groups of devils often bribing and corrupting decision makers. Defamation and vilification are the tools of propaganda machine. They target and character assassin rare human rights activists, conscious political figures, groups and honest leaders using fake news and fictitious history via mega media outlets.

Trust, integrity, reliability, friendships and public sympathy have become scarce social commodities across nations. The human governing systems are responsible for all destructive policies and human sufferings. Mortality of morality is everywhere! We need to restore integrity and spiritual code of conducts. We should, by any means, counter and head-on misinformation and disinformation agents to restore humanity!

6.     ENVIROMENTAL DEGRADATIONWhat is environmental degradation? And its consequences? Environmental degradation is the deterioration of the  environment through depletion of resources such as air, water and soil; the destruction of ecosystems; habitat destruction; the extinction of wildlife; and pollution. Simply put, environmental degradations is a decline in the quality of our environment.

The earth is sick because of human selfish activities. The passion for ephemeral goodies and economic cruelties across nations have made the earth to bleed. Assorted pollutions: atmosphere and the oceans. Human activities:  over using cars and industries, over exploiting mining and deforestations, dumping of nuclear and electronic wastes are the greatest risks and threats to Mother Nature and destruction of living things.

From air polluting big cities through heavy use of fuels and coals to dumping of nuclear and electronic wastes in Africa. From wild fires of California, Spain and Australia to deforestations of Africa and the Amazon. From catastrophic Exxon Valdez oil spills to the worst Gulf of Mexico oil spills (3.19 barrels) killing marine animals. From illegal exploitation of Delta oil in Nigeria to abuses and killing of miners in South Africa. From polluting the oceans with industrial wastes to over exploiting their contents. From destroying coral reefs of Indonesia to poisoning of the Philippine islands. From poisoning valuable insects and extinction of wild animals to chocking marine animals with plastics. From denials of environmental and climate changes to undermining international Rio and Paris environmental agreements. From piled garbage in Africa’s political capitals to plastics in Africa’s villages.

The greatest threat to human being is coming from the so-called civilized or developed nations as their focus is only resource exploitations. Greed, Greed and Greed! Their attitudes and mindsets are exploitations, wealth accumulations, poisoning the integrity of wider world populations.

Since COVID19, all environmental indicators imply that the atmosphere is clearer and healthier as there are lesser human polluting activities. Pollution has dramatically reduced around the big cities of the world. A lesson to be learned. With the new normal, engaging in Circular Economy may help us to get out of self-destruction mode. Be gentle to earth. Give humanity an edge!

7.     HUNGERWhat is hunger? And its consequences? Hunger is a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat. According to the World Food Programme, undernourishment occurs when people do not take in enough calories to meet minimum physiological needs. However, the term hunger is used in a sense that goes beyond the common desire for food that all humans experience. Throughout history, portions of the world's population have often suffered sustained periods of mass hunger.

Most people cannot even afford to eat two decent meals per day. According to Action Against Hunger (AAH), more than enough food is produced to feed the global population—but more than 820 million people go hungry each year. Hunger kills over 8000 children per day globally.

Hunger is strongly interconnected with poverty. It involves interactions among an array of social, political, demographic, and societal factors. Conflict is a major driver of hunger. It creates inappropriate care practices and unsafe environments. Environments with low access to quality water, sanitation, and hygiene, as well as, inadequate access or availability to health services and education. Weather-related events, in part associated with climate change have greater consequences on employment, economic activities and food production.

From potato famine of Irish, Irish immigrating to North America to famine in Ethiopia and droughts in Sahel region of Africa. From fertilizer crimes of poisoning the soils of Africa to poisoning pollinating insects of Africa. From destruction of local recyclable seeds to madness of genetic seed modifications and GMO distributions. From flouting indigenous farming methods to increasing suicide of farmers due to heavy agricultural debts. From genetic engineering sickness in the name of drought and pest resistances to making smallholder farmers’ seed saving and recycling method obsolete. From soils sterilization through chemical fertilizers in developing countries to speculative international trade and dumping prices of local produces. Not exhaustively, but all these are intricate causes of Hunger!

Already vaccine for hunger is available abundantly. It is called food! The world does not want to share! The world produces and stashes agricultural products that can feed everyone on earth 5 decent meals per day throughout a year, while it is also wasting about 45 percent of it. Sharing is caring to mitigate diseases of hunger! Redistribute the stashed produces equitably and control wastage are going back to humanity!

8.     ALCOHOLISM What is alcoholism? And its consequences? Alcoholism is an addiction to drinking alcohol or intoxicants.

By its design, alcohol is the only disease that is packaged, bottled and legally sold around the globe. It is the number one killer of humankind – car accidents, domestic violence, murders, health and social problems. Official figures from UN organizations indicate that over 3 million people perish per year due to alcohol; this represents 5.3 percent of all deaths and 12 percent of deaths in males between the ages of 15 and 49 (productive age group). The harmful use of alcohol is a causal factor in more than 200 diseases and injury conditions. About 2000 college students are killed per year due to alcohol. This bottled disease kills 1 in 20 deaths globally each year, according to WHO.

COVID19 has closed bars, beer stores and related outlets. Since COVID19, some alcohol related deaths are halted in the last few weeks; noting that no amount of alcohol is good for health. Authorities should start to regulate immensely the alcohol industry and have control over its production and consumption; to eventually eradicate it to have improved life styles and decency in human society, in general.
9.     SUBSTANCE ABUSE What is substance abuse? And, its consequences? Substance Abuse is the harmful or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs.

According to UN reports, drug use, drug use disorders and related health conditions are major public health concerns. Psychoactive drug use is responsible for more than 400 000 deaths per year. Drug use disorders account for 55 percent of the total global burden of disease. Injection drug use accounts for an estimated 30 percent of new HIV infections outside sub-Saharan Africa. Substance Abuse also contributes significantly to hepatitis B and hepatitis C epidemics in all regions.

These are results of so-call free world capitalism and repressive communism ideologies. These human governing systems spread ‘substance abuse’ like wild fire in name of freedom across the globe. They are decimating the young generations mercilessly. Prevention and treatment continue to fall short in many parts of the world. According to World Drug Report 2019, 35 million people worldwide suffered from drug use disorders while only 1 in 7 people receiving treatment each year. The “who cares” attitude of secular systems provide no moral guidance for the youth, and hence substance abuses are rampant with limitless freedom.

In the advent of COVID19, streets are empty and safe; drug sellers are quarantined and crime rate has gone down dramatically. Governments have to revisit their policies of unlimited freedom to use drugs and sales. Stop venomizing families and communities, and social remedies. Restore moral integrity!
10.  DOMESTIC VIOLENCEWhat is domestic violence? And its consequences? Domestic violence is any behavior the purpose of which is to gain power and control over a spouse, partner or intimate family member.

Domestic violence is an invisible war in households. Essentially, it comes due to moral erosions and unlimited freedom from either side. Because of so-called Western civilization, intimate partner violence has surged to 42% in South Asia, and in Sub-Saharan Africa, it is up to 30%. In Western world, divorce rate is up to 60%. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men abuses. Victims of intimate partner violence lose a total of 8 million days of paid work each year, according to UN figures.

The cost of intimate partner violence exceeds $8.3 billion per year; between 21-60% of victims of intimate partner violence lose their jobs due to reasons stemming from the abuse. From physical and mental disorders to sexual and reproductive health effects. From adolescent pregnancy and unintended pregnancy to miscarriage and stillbirth. From intrauterine hemorrhage and nutritional deficiency to abdominal pain and other gastrointestinal problems. From neurological disorders and chronic pain to disability and children abuses and abandonments. According to Africa News TV, every 40 seconds a person commits suicide because of domestic violence and associated abuses.

Mentality of modernity is full of immorality, and it a hotbed of assorted social violence. It is time to restore human dignity and respect for one another through social capital and education.

11.  GAMBLING What is gambling? And, its consequences? Gambling is taking part in a game during which one risks money, or something of monetary value, in order to win money or a prize. The outcome of the game is usually down to chance, so when gambling you might leave with less money than you started off with, and sometimes with nothing at all.

Gambling exploits the elderly and the poor. At a time when independent organizations estimate that there are at least 12 million compulsive gamblers, it does not make a lot of sense to have the state promoting gambling. The average compulsive gambler has debts exceeding $80,000 in Western world. The only guarantee is, if a person is a compulsive gambler and continues to gamble, the end result is prison, insanity, or death.

Legalized gambling is a bad social policy. From monstrous Las Vegas and Florida gambling casinos to notorious European gambling dens; From Amsterdam ‘Red District” to addictive Chinese and exploitative Thailand’s casino districts. From introducing Chinese Casinos in Africa’s capitals to ill-fully placed casinos and lottery boozes in Aborigines’ reservations in the US, Canada and Australia. Using Natives reservations for gambling and lottery is categorically evil; intended to complete the policy of wiping out Natives from Western hemisphere!

Problem Gambling can have a seriousimpact on the physical, emotional, and financial health of individuals who gamble, as well as their families. Pathological gambling is a disorder that can have many diverse and unintended consequences like suicide. From a medical perspective, pathological gamblers are at increased risk to develop stress-related conditions, such as hypertension, sleep deprivation, cardiovascular disease, and peptic ulcer disease. Also, because casinos provide free alcohol to their customers, they could easily get alcohol problems.  Impairs family relationships, induces emotional problems and financial difficulties. According to addiction blog, reasons gambling should be illegal are: it is subject to fraud, availability of gambling facilities increases risk of problem gambling, which costs society billions annually. Combating gambling in all its forms is saving humanity!
12.  FASHION INDUSTRY What is fashion industry? And, its consequences? Fashion industry is multibillion-dollar global enterprise devoted to the business of making and selling clothes.
It is a world of fetishism, glittery and extravagance. It sexualizes women and makes them sex slaves. It degrades women’s dignity and integrity for profits under the banner of beauty pageant. It is a hall marks of indecent dressing and home of sexual abuses for the elites. It has become tools of exploitation and use of child labor in developing countries.
From children and women labor exploitations in Bangladeshi textile industries to the lowest wages in Ethiopia’s textile industries; from large death of textile workers in Pakistan to abuses of farmer-workers in China; from carbon polluting textile industries in China to water polluting textile industries in India and the Philippines. From dumbing second hand clothes in Africa (=killing local textile industries) to paralyzing cotton farmers in Africa. The equivalent of one garbage truck full of clothes is burned or dumped in a landfill every second in developed countries.
According to Science Direct, fetishistic designs, represents an important example of the complexity involved in systems change, beginning with the identification of root causes to a systemic problem. The promotion of an idealized and vastly unattainable depiction of the female body that equates thinness with beauty, success, and power. It appears to be associated also with psychological problems, sexual harassment and serial bullying.
According to Fashion Industry statistics, it is unsustainable industry because the fashion industry produces 10% of all humans’ carbon emissions. That’s more emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. It is the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply. Overall, synthetic clothes and microplastics are estimated to compose up to 31% of plastic pollution in the ocean. All in all, the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of all industrial water pollution worldwide. In fact, it takes 2,700 liters of water to make one cotton t-shirt; enough water for one person to drink for 2½ years. Its negative consequences are more than its benefits. Regulating to have lesser impact on the environment, women and children labors, as well as, industrial hazards are prerequisite to have new world order!

13.  ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRYWhat is Entertainment Industry? And, its consequences?  According to Wikipedia, entertainment industry is a group of sub-industries devoted to entertainmentEntertainment industry is used to describe the mass media companies that control the distribution and manufacture of mass media entertainment. The media and entertainment industry consists of film, print, radio, and television. These segments include movies, TV shows, radio shows, news, music, newspapers, magazines, and books.

According to many researches, it is a fact that the entertainment industry, given its wide reach to the public, as well as its large following of audience, has a big part on how violent and often immoral acts are propagated as seen by many. For good or bad, this industry has reached a fever pitch in social, economic and political transformations. Intoxicated with money, an anticipated revenue from media and entertainment will reach an estimated $2.2 trillion by 2021; however, with its curses exceeding its blessings.

It is one of the drivers of morality destruction, which brought about deadly social transformation around the globe From ethical blindness of Hollywood to cultural destructive films of Bollywood in India; from Europeans’ indecent music and films to Africa’s voodoo promoting films of Nollywood; from messaging ill political agenda of Modi in India to deceiving voters in the USA; from being a campaigning tools for repressive regime of Egypt to creating unprecedented mixture of facts and fictions in America politics; from biased religious and ethnic promotion in Ethiopian music and films to camouflaged anti-Islam Arab film industries in Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey.

The entertainment industry is largely satire and represents moral decay agents around the globe. “The older hands get depressed,” Henshaw says. “There’s a lack of morality among the younger set. Lying has become a way of life. What’s frustrating is that I don’t see any measurable reward for honesty or forthrightness.” Money, power and fame make the entertainment industry. It is a social corona to most households nowadays.

The world is sick of commercial and political dominance and bias. It means, the 99% of the population should challenge the powerful without fear. The Pop culture should stop supporting and promoting the elites as it degrades the majority; Hollywood should stop demonizing the world cultures and traditions. Stop deceiving the young! The industry must be regulated immensely to prevent the new generations from immorality infections. Revive ethical values - honesty, integrity, faith, fairness, moderation and decency in dressing, as well as, caring and respecting others in the new normal.

14.  XENOPHOBIA AND RACISMWhat is xenophobia? And, its consequences? Xenophobia is extreme dislike, hatred or fear of foreigners, their customstheir religions and their cultures. Xenophobia and nationalism can be seen as a reaction to the rise of globalization.

Incidents of white supremacist material being spread across the US rose by 120% in 2019, and similarly in Europe, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). From wave of xenophobic violence in South Africa to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia attacks in European capitals; from betrayal of Mandel’s legacy of anti-apartheid to disloyalty to Gandih’s secular democratic India; from far-right violence in Paris to desecrating Jewish and Muslim cemeteries in France and Germany; from resurgence of fascism blockading immigrants at sea to White supremacy attacks on people of colored in Charlottesville, USA; from far-right stoking and attacks on Muslims in the Netherlands and Denmark to India’s xenophobia constitutional shame; from capitalist cults promoting world order to mercilessly using developing countries as testing labs for diseases. From testing HIV vaccines in Ghana to discriminatively suggesting testing Corona vaccines in Africa. All reflect the rise of xenophobia and racism. It is sickening and inhumane!

To counter xenophobia, antisemitism and Islamophobia, which is “toxic to democracy and human rights” and poses “a threat to all societies if left unaddressed”, countries must invest more in education, the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief has warned recently.
15.EXTREMISMWhat is extremism? And, its consequences? Extremism is a tendency or disposition to go to extremes such as holding of extreme political or religious views. Political or religious agendas perceived as extremists often include those from the far-left politics or far-right politics as well as religious radicalism, reactionism, fundamentalism and fanaticism.

White extremism in the US and World Hate groups rose by 30% recently. FBI Director Christopher Wray acknowledged that racist extremists in the US are now considered a "national threat priority" presenting the same danger as foreign terror organisations such as the so-called Islamic State. From chanting "Blood and soil" - an old Nazi slogan  by White supermasists in the US cities and campuses to Christianist (=Christian terrorist) attacks on Muslims in New Zealand; from DAESH or ISIS attacks in Iraq and Syria to Zionists besieging Palestine;  from ultra-Orthodox and evangelist fanatics propagating hatred to extreme Muslims (=Islamist) in Saudi Arabia butchering  human right activists; from women and girls’ rapes in Indian cities to paranoiac Hindu attacks on Muslims and Christians in Indian towns and villages; from 911 and Bombay bombings to destructions in Colombo and Bali in Indonesia.

From communist Chine indoctrination and maligning Muslims to terrorizing Muslims in Chechnya and China; from Right Wings and fascism attacking foreigners in European capitals to nationalistic anti-immigrant polices in the US. From right-wing gangsters in the White House, Downing Street and Brazil who embolden the KKK to unorthodox Islamic Taliban groups attacking the public in the valleys and towns of Afghanistan.

Celebrating other cultures and emphasize the fact that we are all people or human. It sends the message that extremism will not be tolerated in a civil society. It is our job, as people, as parents, as citizens of the world, to combat extremism wherever we can. Believe in diversity as every one of us are part of diverse nature. Based on UN recommendation, here are five ways to fight back extremism. Celebrate other cultures, Call out bigotry and hate speech, Teach children kindness and how to talk about differences, Report attacks — intervene if it's safe to do so and  Support human rights advocates, activists and organizations. Fight back; not to make the world wicked again!

16.  DISCRIMINATION AND BIGOTRY - What is discrimination? And, its consequences?  Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.

Modern systematic discrimination and racism began with Columbus. Also, indigenous people in Australia are “disproportionally represented” in the country’s criminal justice system according to a United Nations Rights expert.  From the 17th and 18th centuries kidnapping of 7 million Africans for slavery to modern slavery of 40 million people through forced labor and human trafficking; from confining the Aborigines in the US, Canada and Australian reservations to Catholic priests abusing residential schools native children; from communism atrocities of Muslims in China and Russia to the execution of Tibetans in China; from executing Christians in Pakistan to isolating Indian Muslims in India; from executing Gypsies (Romani people) in European countries to prejudice and abusing immigrant workers in the Middle East. From inhumane native Africans life in shanty towns of South Africa to degrading black life in the ghettos of United States. From over 2 million black inmates in the US prisons to ethnic cleansing over 3 million Muslim Myanmar citizens.

All these are faces of discrimination around the globe under the banner of civilization and globalization. Racism violates everything we stand for and everything we do, said UN Human Rights Official. We need to tackle disproportionate police violence, racial profiling, mass incarceration, structural racism in health, employment, education & housing.

Imagine if confinements due to CORVID19 have brought assorted crises including unemployment, domestic violence, psychological break down and depression; hence, imagine what the aborigines are going through in their reservations, Africans in the slums and Asians in their shanty towns for years! Wouldn’t they need all the support and deserve to live decently? It is time to speak out loudly truth to power. Capitalism and Communism should disconnect their exploitative tentacles and blood sucking policies towards these helpless segment of the world populations. Promote rights, diversity and inclusion to have humanity!

17.  HUMAN DISPLACEMENT What is human displacement? And, its consequences?  Human displacement (also forced migration/immigration) is the involuntary or coerced movement of a person or people away from their home or home region, resulting from a variety of external causes including war, conflict, natural disasters, violence, ethnic cleansing and other persecution.

According to UNHCR, the number of forcibly displaced people both within countries and across borders as a result of persecutions, conflicts, or generalized violence has grown by over 50 per cent in the last 10 years; there were 43.3 million forcibly displaced people in 2009, and the figure was 70.8 million by end of 2018. Today 1 out of every 108 people are displaced.

From homeless children (210, 000 UK alone) growing in containers to majority young (over 2 million) homeless people in the US, Canada and European streets). From astronomical racial disparities in the US to the hidden faces of homelessness in the capitals of the world. Draining the brains of developing countries to issuing Diversity Visa (DV) lottery for the best Africans countries under the banner of humanitarian assistances; from displacing humans in the name of liberty in the Middle East to settling over 1 million immigrants for labor shortages in Germany. From high population density in developed capitals addicted to drugs to ultra-poverty in slums of developing countries. From 2.9 million internal displacements due to tribal and religious conflicts in Ethiopia to 1.8 million in DRC and 1.6 million in Syria. From over 5 million Palestine refugees forcefully displaced to mass exodus of ultra-poor South Americans.

According to multinational consultative groups, displacement caused by conflict and human rights violations is typically resolved through the pursuit of three “durable solutions”: local integration, resettlement or voluntary return. It has often been assumed that durable solutions mark the end of mobility for refugees and internally displaced person. Uphold social, economic and political justices. Humanity first!

18.  ARROGANCE AND IGNORANCE - What is arrogance? And, its consequences? Arrogance is a type of extreme or foolish pride in which someone feels much superior to another.

In the last 5 years, we have witnessed the insurgency of day light arrogance and ignorance. The peak of arrogant and ignorant nationalistic leaders in Western capitals, contaminating and undermining equity, equality and humanity. From the loops of making America great again to xenophobic and hate mongering European leaders. From burying equity leadership of Kennedy to decimating the legacies of peaceful revolution of Gandhi. From subjugating minority Muslim religious groups in China, Russia and India to harassing indigenous minorities in Iraq, Iran, Australia, Turkey and Myanmar; from economic strangulation of Cuba, Venezuela and Iran to blockage of technological advancements in Iran and China. From ignorant African leaders governing for decades in Uganda, Cameroon, and Togo to under-developing South Sudan, Sudan, Chad and many more. As Albert Einstein said, “the only thing more dangerous that ignorance is arrogance”; and that danger is looping from Washington, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Riyadh, New Delhi and Pyongyang to the African continent.

The world needs to heal from these mega diseases, arrogance and ignorance. The world needs young, dynamic, uncorrupt, fair and equitable leaders. The Post-COVID19 world order must to follow universal constitution and uphold a complete equitable social, economic and political systems with humanity at its core!

19.  HYPOCRISY AND EGOTISMWhat is hypocrisy? And, its consequences? the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case. Or, contrivance of a false appearance of virtue or goodness, while concealing real character traits or inclinations, especially with respect to religious and moral beliefs, as well as, in political endeavors.

Hypocrisy flourishes in acorrupted mind with deceptive overdrive. It is a weapon of mass social destruction. Double edged world leaders have attacked some countries and left unchecked some others on the same political agenda or issues. From decimating celebrated economic and social amenities and utilities in Libya to supporting dictatorial and abusive Egyptian military regime; from destruction of fertile lands of the basket of Africa (Zimbabwe) to confiscations of fertile lands of Palestine and Falk Island;  from hegemony of Iran’s nuclear deals to denial of Israel’s nuclear establishments; from starving Yemeni women and children to supporting ruthless Saudi regime with human rights violations; from destroying productive Iraqi oil fields to signing agreements with controversial Afghanistan murderous groups.

From assisting Africa in the name of development and democracy for exploitations to intended policy of poisoning and making its population Guinee-pigs. From deceptive leadership masked with political tribalism and egoistic religious attacks in Ethiopia to shameless religious and minorities genocide supported by Myanmar Peace Nobel Laurate, Aung San Suu Kyi. From Marshal Plan of reviving European economies to Marshal Plan of looting Africa’s mineral wealth. Capitalism and Communism systems have shown their hypocritical, double-edged and dazzling political hegemony to the world.

These human systems of governance are parasites that cannot survive without the inputs from Africa, but they do not care about Africa’s needs. These two systems have technical and professional skilled manipulators who continue to systematical enslave and exploit developing countries. It is imperative for developing world to wake up and gear into actions to get out of mental enslavement and breaking dependency. Get organized, focused and work as a team!

Vividly, man-made non-organic coronas have attacked all organs of humanity. These are the 19 man-made social, economic and political coronas that have created human sufferings around the globe. These tsunamis of man-made coronas are the causes of killing millions of people at all corners of the world. All these 19 man-made pandemics are the results of capitalistic and communistic extremisms, as well as human governance systems driven by greed and self-centrism. They need immediate attentions, containments and adjustment to sustainably save the earth and humanity at large.
Hoping COVID19 is bringing the best out of people. It is time for paradigm shift. It is time to amend, edit and re-direct ourselves. The lessons from COVID19 is to have Marshal Plan to structurally adjust all aspects of Pre-COVID19 social, political and economic iniquities. Bring new normal! Humanity first! Mobilize resources for global benefits. Focus on social and collective gains, not individual gains.
The world needs to heal to have new normal. Redistributions of wealth at global level and coming back to humanity can eradicate assorted sufferings of the majority. If the super-everything could structurally adjust themselves to super-humanity, then it is possible to eradicate the mother of all viruses, poverty. That would lead to globe harmony, prosperity, health and peace! It is possible to do it, as the saying goes if there is WILL, there is a way.
It is time to take off the dark cover the world has set on its heart. The only way is to transform oneself first, and then help one another as COVID19 has shown us. We are nothing but flimsy creatures bound for self-destruction. If the leaders of capitalism and socialism, reformat their attitudes and mindsets then equity, equality and humanity will be revived, and peace could be achieved for all. We need humanity structured governance system; basing on “Our nationality is humanity”, “Our country is earth”, “Our Constitution is Divine authored” and its Author is the “One and Only One Creator.” Following this guidance will lead us to use the 19 vaccines for the 19 man-made coronas. The vaccines are: prayer, humility, mutual respect, sharing, love, charity, mercy, repentance, fasting, equality, equity, gratitude, forgiveness, faith, unity, patience, compassion, moderation and piety. These vaccines eventually leading to peace and prosperity for all!
Finally, as a Refugee, an Immigrant, Development Worker, Researcher, Professional Trainer and Professor, my minuscule message to my beloved continent Africa is: as you can see the largest human displacement and sufferings in the world now are in Ethiopia due to tribal and religious conflicts coupled by deceptive and egoistic leaderships. Because of the politics of larger number, the larger ethnic groups should not be corona to each other; and corona to minority social groups in any country. Equity, equality, justice and peace are the organs of humanity, and with our common denominator, MULTICULTURALISM (or Diversity), let’s keep our humanity intact by respecting one another. Then we feel and function together as Ethiopians peacefully.
With the coming of Ramada soon, I wish all my brothers and sisters in faith and humanity ‘Ramadan Mubark.” Be forgiving and generous.
Until our next presentation, Aselam Alyekum
