Found it educative, inspiring and motivating. Truly, Sheik Ahmad Abdulahi was great Islamic scholar with intentions of pleasing Allah, and teaching ISLAM to wider and diverse audiences. I listened to IHMS broadcast ‘In memory of Sheik Ahmed Abudlahi and others’, and my parents and relatives also talked a lot about his legacy; Sheik Ahmed Abdullahi is like a root – a disdain flower that never sought fame.
Fortunately I came across Sheik Abdulahi’s clipped advices to the Harari Youth in diaspora; and I felt sharing some of his timeless advices with my fellow age mates in diaspora. I am first Canadian generation of Harari Ethiopian descent; With the little Harari language I know, I have tried my best to translated, transliterate and explain his messages; relaying to you in my own ways without losing his core messages. I always believe that sharing is caring. Here you go!
Sheik Ahmed was a link Between Harar and Hararis in diaspora Quenched his audience with pure Islamic messages And, let’s digest his direct messages within ourselves Said he passionately, In the name of Allah The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful May the young Harari souls abroad In America and around the globe; Young boys and girls, adults and the old Establish and uphold Islam everywhere; As first Companions of the Prophet Who established and propagated Islam, Were young boys, girls and adults alike; Sayeedina Abubakeri in his thirties, But, Sayeedina Ali was ten, Zuber, Telha and others in their teens. Treasure your forefathers’ Islamic heritages Acquire Islamic knowledge wherever you are, You are the unquenched Harari souls And, the symbol of Harar’s future and flowers; Said he strikingly, Your forefathers and foremothers Engaged in agriculture and cultivated, Fixed leaking homes, Helped and fed orphans Shaved and cleaned the needy Clothed and sheltered the destitute Worked as votaries Took turns and fixed roads Made Harar an Islamic hill In the landscape of diverse peoples Your forefathers and foremothers Offered charity to orphan homes Left behind, under Nedeba Kalim Cash and necessities in needy homes With left hand not knowing What the right hand was doing; With no show off any charity Only to please the Creator, the Almighty Tirelessly with afflux of time, Sheik Ahmed continued with elegance Said he thoughtfully, A human being must look after Parents, close relatives and friends Should serve humanity selflessly. Said he exceptionally, Your parents took care of you Since your conception Brought you up to the age of maturity As they were your endless endowments; Do not be like wild animals Neglectful and ignoring your parents; Show your respect and responsibilities Obliged are children towards them at all times; Fulfilling Islamic teaching and obligations; Beautiful in the sight of Allah all together With impactful credit in the Hereafter Be appreciative and grateful Supplicate for them with gratitude He who has not appreciated his parents Never appreciates his Creator; The wife has to be duty bound to her husband And equally must be the husband to his wife; Having dependable rights towards each other; Only can they fulfil their duties rightfully If they have acquired Islamic knowledge, Built on Fear of Allah and the love of His Prophets. Said he certainly Before death murmurs Inevitably knocks at your door Takes you away forever From this temporary world; Articulated he clearly Human beings are deep asleep; And, intensely said ‘Wake up’ To serve Allah before your time is up. Reiterated absolutely, Quoting the Prophet (PBUH); A human being wakes up only when he dies; He regrets why he was immersed in worldly affairs With selfish duties and chasing material bounties; He who had not sown and sent beforehand, In Allah’s ways in this temporary world Never would he harvest anything in the Hereafter; And, no way to come back and serve the Creator; Death takes anyone any time Infants, the young and the old; The normal and the abnormal, The wealthy and the poor, Wake up to serve Allah, your Creator To prepare yourself for the Hereafter; The Sheik continued with his blessings (Du’aa), May Allah open our hearts And, help us to understand His messages Abiding and implementing To help the needy, the orphan and the helpless And, serving to please Allah at all times Never darkness conquered Sheik Ahmed Remarkably, he left his noble Amana, Deals and Wills to us, all around Young Harari souls in diaspora And, Muslims at large. You are the dove of peace And, the continuum of Islam’s messengers Like the burning candles Illuminate the footprints of your forefathers; With manners of your foremothers Don’t you ever forget, Where you came from To us what we call Harari home; Don’t you ever forget your story. Your growth is found in your roots And, your faith is in the One and Only Positively, Sheik Ahmed, Appealing to us in devotion Engage, link and visit Harar The kingdom of our ancestors; Wishing us to have undying voices Islamic voices and natural law of justices; Cling to our rights and heroic roots Revive the dwellings of our grand-great parents The walls of Harar and its surroundings Resonate our foremothers and forefathers Full of Islamic knowledge and teachings; Equipped with the power of charity In spreading Islamic messages, Keeping Harar as the source of truth And, the center of peace and divinity; Said he continuously Our forefathers and foremothers Established the roots of Islam in Harar And, in the surrounding landscapes. Do so in your own country respectively; Involve in your communities voluntarily Live Islamic live wherever you are Serve your Creator open heartily; As you always live and honor The values, the traditions and the culture of Harar
