INTERNATIONAL HARARI MEDIA SERVICES – IHMS
International Harari Media Services (IHMS) is a non-profit Organization dedicated to provide current information, Education, Documentary of indigenous Harari People for the long-term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities around the world.
International Harari Media Services (IHMS) is the first of its kind to provide up-to-date information on community events, current affairs, Harari culture, documentaries and history of indigenous Harari People though online video programming and social media. Having first started going on air on October 1st, 2018 in Toronto, Canada, it has garnered the attention of thousands of viewers worldwide.
IHMS provides various contents, including news, dramas and documentaries which is aimed at diverse audiences. IHMS offers programming in Indigenous Harari, English and the Amharic language.

Our Vision
- To deliver viable, time-sensitive and accurate content (information) to all Hararis around the world to raise their awareness, be their voice at different settings, and educate Hararis and others about the history and the rich culture of Harar and Hararis.
- Be a catalyst to educate, empower and instigate awareness about Hararis and Harar.
- Ensure the History of Harar and Hararis is accurate and well-understood by the global community; i.e.:
- All Hararis inside and outside Harar,
- Non-Harari Speaker Ethiopians,
- The international community.
- To foster positive contributions for the development and enrichment of Harari Language
- Ensure Harar, Harari culture, and Harari language remains vital and preserved for generations to come.
Our Mission
- To Work collaboratively with Hararis and non-Hararis around the globe to deliver accurate and timely information.
- Build a bias-free media organization that treats everyone equally and provides opportunity to all Hararis, and non-Hararis who adds value to Harar’s culture, language, vision and mission.
- Provide an inclusive environment that brings speakers, interviewees, panelists and historians based on their expertise only, irrespective of their age, gender and political opinion.
- Be open to entertain different points of view.
- Treat everyone with fairness and respect.
Our Goals and Objectives
GOAL 1: Create an educated and informed society through rendering multi-lingual, high-quality, and engaging content and services.
- To achieve this Goal, IHMS pursues the following objectives:
- Developing and distributing high-quality, non commercial content and services with particular attention to the needs and interests of Hararis as well as others.
- Facilitating the development and distribution of high-quality content, including news, History and other information, that is accurate, fair, balanced, transparent, and produced in a manner that is consistent with the editorial integrity and IHMS values.
- Encouraging the involvement of all Hararis around the globe to provide content that highlight current affairs, major community and religious events, and provide guidance to all Hararis to learn about their heritage.
- Facilitating the development of content created for and delivered across multiple platforms (languages).
GOAL 2: Strengthen the quality of IHMS content and services, and deepen the engagement with audiences and users, by supporting innovative projects.
- To achieve this Goal, IHMS will pursue the following objectives:
- Support the efforts of IHMS content producers through facilitating the use of innovative technology platforms that would address the needs of IHMS audiences regardless of wherever, whenever and however they use, share and create media.
- Support the efforts of IHMS contributors through developing strategies that address their limitations while leveraging the rapidly changing ways in which people are using media.
GOAL 3: Strengthen the quality of IHMS Media content and services by attracting and supporting strong Harari Media personnel, historians and knowledgeable entities.
- To achieve this Goal, IHMS will pursue the following objectives:
- Promote and support collaboration to increase capacity and provide essential and diverse service.
- Foster IHMS volunteers and personnel that bring diverse expertise, talents and experiences.
- Support initiatives and projects that extend the reach of IHMS to new and more diverse users and content creators.
- Encourage the involvement of all Hararis around the world to participate in sub-committees and shape the future of IHMS.
- Offer a welcoming and safe environment where guests freely share their ideas and knowledge.
- Ensure guests equal opportunities to be heard and inspire, as they promote our irrefutable history.
- Provide equal opportunities to all guests to ensure that their voices are heard and inspired.
- Work with IHMS Board and diverse Harari organizations to:
- Increase, measure and adjust the impact of IHMS services,
- Raise awareness regarding the vital role IHMS plays in helping communities address important local issues.
GOAL 4: Ensure all IHMS contents and programs create a positive impact on all Hararis and other viewers.
